Job Overview The Lead Care Manager functions as the lead to a group of Care Managers/"Designated Care Managers" during the shift. The Lead Care Manager ensures quality care and services are provided to residents in care neighborhoods and documented in a consistent manner and in alignment with each resident's Individualized Service Plan (ISP). The Lead Care Manager leads by example in all job responsibilities and demonstrates the Mission for Sunrise Senior Living, "to champion quality of life for all seniors" in accordance with laws, Sunrise standards, policies, and procedures.
Responsibilities & Qualifications Essential Duties Provide supervisory support by taking attendance at the beginning of every shift, managing call-offs/no shows, sending open shift messages, and responding to shift requests.
Support team members as they provide Activities of Daily Living (ADL) care and services to residents in accordance with their ISP; this may include bathing, grooming, personal and dental hygiene, bowel/bladder functions, dressing, hair care, escorting to meals and activities, and tidying resident rooms.
Support team members to encourage personalized and meaningful resident participation in life enrichment programming and ADLs.
Assist with meal service in dining room; coach team members on hospitality standards during meal service.
Document care and services provided to residents accurately, review care manager documentation throughout shift, and identify/bridge gaps in documentation by coaching team members.
Ensure compliance with Timekeeping and Meal/Rest Period policies; monitor break schedules and ensure care managers clock in/out using correct job codes; coach team members as required.
Display flexibility in work schedule by working holidays, evenings, weekends, and additional shifts when necessary.
Prepare for shift by obtaining resident group assignments and distributing them to appropriate care managers.
Participate in crossover meetings with other Lead Care Managers.
Carry a resident group assignment on overnight shifts and pick up assignments if a call off is unfilled.
Cross-train and possess credentials to safely administer medications if needed during high volume or unexpected absence.
Lead by example when clocking in/out and taking proper meal/rest breaks.
Participate in group interview processes including job preview video and community tour.
Support onboarding of new team members including shadowing and skills demonstrations.
Maintain a safe and secure environment by following safety standards and actively supporting safety practices.
Report incidents and complete appropriate paperwork immediately.
Communicate changes in resident condition to the department care coordinator and assist in updates to ISPs and communications with residents and families.
Prevent and handle conflicts by working with the team toward solutions and communicating issues when necessary.
Contribute to care manager annual performance reviews by providing feedback to the department care coordinator.
Present a positive, professional, and friendly image through actions, words, and dress.
Maintain compliance with required training and any training required by regulatory authorities applicable to this role.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience and Qualifications High School diploma or GED strongly preferred and may be required per state/provincial regulations.
Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively with Care Managers, Community Managers, residents, and family members.
Maintain required certifications and ongoing training as required by Sunrise and regulations: CPR, First Aid, Medication Management, and any other applicable certifications.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Previous experience working with seniors and a desire to serve and care for seniors.
Demonstrate leadership competencies and the ability to make choices and decisions in residents’ best interests.
