OrthopedicsOur data coordinator team is responsible for clinical data registries and disease-based cohort databases that are used for the purposes of quality initiatives, performance improvement, and patient outcomes research.This position announcement is for an assignment to the department of orthopedic surgery for hospital participation in a joint replacement data registry.The joint replacement registry includes patients having total or partial hip and knee replacement surgery.We are seeking an RN Clinical Data Coordinator responsible for abstracting and/or auditing a large volume of clinical case records, data, or other information within established deadlines in support of quality assessment initiatives and patient outcomes studies relating to joint replacement.What You'll Do: High-quality data compilation and accurate data entry in adherence to definitions and clinical terminologies while ensuring data integrity in accordance with compliance policies Applies clinical training and clinical experience in the review of moderate to highly complex clinical information from electronic health record and other documentation sources to abstract data elements for clinical data registries and to ensure compliance with standards of care. Work collaboratively with surgeons, physicians, clinical care teams, and administrative staff for hip and knee replacement surgery to ensure validity of the data Participates in ongoing data quality reviews to ensure an accurate database. Produces ad-hoc reports in Microsoft Excel addressing variances from established standards and identifying significant data trends, outlier values or unusual data for additional review by physicians and clinical documentation improvement staff.What You'll Bring: Bachelor's degree in health related field is required. Chart abstraction experience and strong familiarity of electronic health record and clinical documentation is required. Must have the proven ability to abstract medical records and to track down accurate information through various sources. Experience as Research Coordinator or Clinical Registry Data Abstractor is preferred. Quality improvement or patient safety knowledge and experience a plus Knowledge of Epic, Cerner, health information systems, medical coding, and clinical documentation. Familiarity and comfort with data entry in web-based forms and/or clinical systems. Database data entry and/or data quality management experience preferred.
