In accordance with the organization’s mission, vision and values, the Housing Counselor is responsible for assisting participants in securing and maintaining housing, establishing goals and case management to work towards financial stability.
Must Have Qualifications & Skills:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
One year experience of vocational counseling
Experience in a behavioral health care setting
Ability to multi-task
Demonstrates composure in challenging situations
Nice to Have Qualifications :
Associates Degree or higher in Health / Human Services
2+ years experience working in Behavioral Health
Experience in Crisis Management
Duties:
Responsible for independent completion of case management duties
Screening and waiting list management
Preparing and training clients in searching for securing and maintaining their own housing.
Develop & maintain relationships with area landlords including direct contact and negotiation of rental terms
Securing participants funding sources and collects participants’ share of the rent
Maintain case management files including eligibility, income & rent calculations, and client progress.
Monthly one-on-one appointments and inspections of residences
Develop and maintain positive and effective relationships with community groups, referral sources, planning, funding and service agencies
Demonstrates teamwork and an ability to work in a team environment with coworkers and supervisors. Demonstrates the ability to be flexible and cooperative
Assures all documentation is completed in a timely and accurate manner in compliance with agency/OASAS regulations, practices, policies & procedures
Demonstrates professionalism by providing quality service and care with respect and dignity for the clients and as a representative of FLACRA
Participate in general, staff, in-service and supervisory meetings held by the Agency
Perform other duties and functions as directed.
