Job type: Full-Time Permanent. Location: Decatur, IL. Shift options: 12 hr, 10 hr, or 8 hr shifts.
Job Summary We are seeking a compassionate Hospice Registered Nurse to provide terminally ill patients with quality care. In this role, you will assess patients' medical conditions, maintain comfort during the final stages of life, and provide support and guidance to loved ones.
Responsibilities Collaborate with physicians, social workers, chaplains, and nursing assistants on the care of terminally ill patients.
Prepare and adjust patient care plans as needed.
Frequently visit patients to monitor vital signs and physical comfort.
Perform prescribed treatments and administer pain management medications.
Provide loved ones and primary caregivers with patient care information, end-of-life education, and emotional support.
Maintain and update medical charts, patient files, and health records.
Notify attending physicians, hospice staff, and family members of patients' deaths when they occur.
Advise grieving family members on coping techniques, counseling services, and available community resources.
Requirements Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in state of practice.
BSN preferred.
Accredited certification in hospice and palliative care required.
Two (2) years’ hospice nursing experience preferred.
Knowledge of monitoring and managing terminally ill patients' conditions and comfort.
Strong analytical, diagnostic, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to collaborate effectively and show compassion under stress.
