What You'll Do At BCCS

Support families to prevent the use and misuse of drugs and the development of substance use disorders.

Promote child safety by identifying substance use and misuse in families and connecting families to interventions or treatment programs.

Reduce the risk of future harm to children by addressing substance use needs in families.

Transport clients to appointments in the community and at BCCS appointments.

Provide liaison, support and educational services to DFS staff.

Participate in case presentation at weekly meetings.

Participate in client screening process prior to case management.

Provide outreach activities to the community.

Administer various screening tools to potential clients and explain the nature of the program and the applicable rules.

Assist clients in obtaining admission, entitlements, and related benefits.

Work primarily in community settings and perform work outside an office setting up to 100% of the time.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of screening tools and therapy principles.

Considerable knowledge of the population served and available resources.

Ability to screen clients for appropriate services and document progress.

May require crisis intervention for emergency situations.

Skill in establishing rapport with clients.

Ability to work independently and as part of a focused team.

Effective oral and written communication skills.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED equivalent.

Certification: Certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor (CADC), Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS), Certified Associate Addiction Counselor (CAAD), Certified Prevention Specialist (CPS), or Certified Family Support Peer (CFSP). Certification must be achieved within 18 months of hire. Five years of experience in the Substance Abuse Field may be considered in lieu of certification.

1 year experience in the Substance Abuse Field and/or Mental Health Field.

Valid driver’s license with 2 points or less.

Own vehicle for transportation.

Compensation

From $20/hour

Commensurate with experience and education.

Schedule

Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

May require time outside normal business hours, including evenings and weekends.

Location
Churchman Corporate Center: 92 Christiana Road, New Castle, DE, 19720.

The position involves working in the community and at DFS office(s) within the county, and may include travel to other DFS sites for additional coverage.
