Responsibilities Facilitate enrollment and discharge, conduct follow ups, community outreach, and provide crisis intervention for all age groups.
Deliver care management, advocacy and clinical services to Seriously Mentally Ill and Mental Health participants.
Intervene to alleviate immediate social, emotional or environmental crises and assess, evaluate, triage and refer for appropriate follow-up treatment to support a return to an effective lifestyle.
Respond to crisis calls in person within 30 minutes or by telephone within 15 minutes and ensure emergency demands are met in a calm, competent, productive and timely manner.
Spend at least 50% of time out of the office meeting with community members and stakeholders, educate them about entitlements and behavioral health services, and provide consultation, education and advocacy services to families and other providers.
Qualifications High School Diploma or GED plus 4 years’ experience in behavioral health or combined education/experience to meet Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) qualifications.
Must be at least 21 years of age or older.
Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record and reliable transportation.
First Aid, CPR and CPI training certifications (agency will provide training if not possessed).
Flexible schedule including weekends, nights, days, evenings, and holidays.
Successful completion of background check and Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance through Arizona DPS.
Knowledge of local communities, resources, and entitlements for various funding sources.
Crisis intervention training and ability to work with agency participants and community residents.
Ability to interact effectively with diverse individuals and groups; strong listening, tact and courtesy; and ability to project a positive image of the Agency and behavioral health services.
Experience in behavioral health, knowledge of SMI population, and substance abuse.
Understanding of acute and chronic chemical/co-dependence and related interventions.
Ability to develop treatment plans and summaries based on participant needs.
Familiarity with benefits and entitlements processes and community resources; knowledge of current psychotropic medications and side effects.
Good oral and written communication skills; computer literacy and electronic clinical record keeping.
Mental and Emotional Ability to prioritize workload, make sound judgments, and greet and interact with participants, families, staff and community members.
Build rapport with participants and families and interact effectively with professionals and community partners.
Ability to remain calm and supportive during crisis situations; strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
Physical Ability to sit for long periods, bend, lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Frequent walking, sitting and occasional standing; must be fully ambulatory and able to assist participants.
Proficiency with phones, copiers, computers; ability to operate Agency vehicle.
Ability to encounter potential hazards and work with infectious materials and odors as encountered in field work.
Qualifications Preferred Bilingual English/Spanish
Knowledge of area and services to special populations, including experience with seriously mentally ill participants
Bachelor’s Degree in human services or related field
Ability to obtain clearance with the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office for access to correctional facilities
Advanced knowledge of cultural diversity and sensitivity
