Position Summary
The Juneau Trial Court of the Alaska Court System is currently accepting applications for Court Case Managers 2 (salary range 12) to manage children’s and delinquency cases, as well as civil cases.
Employees transferring from another Alaska agency may receive consideration for an advance step placement.
Responsibilities
Manage the full lifecycle of court case files: initiating new cases, accepting petitions, assigning judges or masters, collecting filing fees, entering case details, closing cases, and updating records.
Issue summonses, subpoenas, and Guardian ad Litem orders, take necessary calendaring actions, route files to appropriate judicial officers, process and evaluate filed documents, and maintain organization and appearance of files.
Retrieve files, distribute signed orders and judgments, perform data entry in case management and motion tracking systems, scan documents into a barcode system, prepare certified or exemplified copies, and generate monthly statistical reports.
Process CINA (Child in Need of Assistance) and delinquency case files: review and manage court documents such as motions, stipulations, opposition and reply memoranda, judge reassignments, memos to set, and hearing notices; ensure filings comply with statutory and court rule requirements; identify deficiencies and notify attorneys or litigants; maintain and update the motion tracking system.
Manage civil cases: case opening, processing, docketing, distributing orders, tracking motions, and case closure. As a clerk, greet the public, accept filings, provide general information, direction, and court forms to customers, accept requests to inspect and copy court documents, and provide excellent customer service in accordance with Alaska Court System standards.
Serve as an in‑court clerk: organize and maintain the courtroom, operate and test recording equipment, announce openings and closings of proceedings, facilitate timeliness of hearings, administer oaths, prepare accurate log notes of proceedings, distribute paperwork resulting from proceedings, and serve as bailiff during jury trials.
Qualifications
Graduation from high school or completion of a General Education Development (GED) certificate AND one year of advanced clerical work experience equivalent to a Court Case Manager 1 with the Alaska Court System or with another employer.
OR Graduation from high school or GED AND completion of a two‑year paralegal curriculum from an accredited institution.
OR A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college.
Work Hours and Environment
Full‑time: 37.5 hours per week. Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a one‑hour lunch break. The position is located at the Dimond Courthouse in Juneau.
