Overview
This role involves conducting clinical quality audits/overreads for the Quality Department, identifying issues related to clinical audits, collecting data via chart extraction, and performing chart audits electronically. The position supports the HEDIS project and quality improvement efforts.
Responsibilities
Conduct clinical quality audits/overreads for the Quality Department.
Identify and report issues related to clinical audits to determine potential areas for quality improvement within the HEDIS project.
Extract clinical data from medical records for the HEDIS program.
Review outpatient, hospital, laboratory, and pharmacy records during audits.
Maintain collected data using standardized methodologies.
Organize data to identify and address opportunities for improvement.
Perform chart audits electronically during the audit season.
Complete HEDIS training prior to chart abstractions.
Receive direction regarding charts requiring auditing.
Maintain all collected records confidentially.
Promote team concepts and reflect the Sisters of Providence mission and philosophy.
Communicate collaboratively with clinic and other staff, representing Sisters of Providence.
Required Qualifications
Technical certification/licensure in Medical Assistant, Certified Nurse Assistant, or Licensed Practical Nurse upon hire.
High School Diploma or GED.
3 years of medical record audit experience, including extraction of clinical data points from medical records and familiarity with EMR.
2 years of HEDIS or quality management/quality improvement/auditing experience within electronic health records.
1 year of experience in the medical field as a Medical Assistant, Certified Nurse Assistant, or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
Preferred Qualifications
Associate’s Degree in Nursing or Healthcare related field, Health Information Management, or similar.
Experience with health plans, project management, data analysis, and/or case review.
