Summary
The Clinical Educator is a professional development specialist whose primary responsibility is to facilitate lifelong learning and professional development activities among clinical staff.
Responsibilities
Onboarding/Orientation: The Clinical Educator develops, coordinates, manages, facilitates, conducts and evaluates onboarding and orientation programs for clinical personnel including transition-to-practice programs for novice or new graduate clinicians.
Competency Management: The Clinical Educator develops, coordinates, manages, facilitates, conducts and evaluates initial and ongoing competency programs for clinical personnel.
Education: The Clinical Educator designs, implements and evaluates educational activities and programs based on identified practice gaps for a specific target audience.
Professional Role Development: The Clinical Educator identifies and develops strategies to facilitate a continuous process of growth through lifelong learning including: role transition, role integration, skill acquisition and skill mastery.
Quality Improvement/Evidence-based Practice/Research: The Clinical Educator integrates the best research evidence into didactic and clinical education design.
Collaborative Partnerships: The Clinical Educator consults, advises, teaches and coordinates with other individuals, groups, departments and/or institutions concerning education and learning.
Work Experience
How You’ll Be Successful:
At least 3 years related clinical and/or nursing experience Required
Documentation of previous teaching experience Preferred
EDUCATION
Four-year Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience Required
Graduate or professional work or advanced degree; or equivalent experience Preferred
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
Licensed to practice nursing in the state of Texas required.
Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers as required by CP 1.20 Life Support Course Requirements Required
PALS, PEARS/PACES, or NRP based on specialty area requirements Required
If PEARS/PACES required: Effective April 20, 2020, new employees must obtain PACES certification within 6 months of hire and existing employees must obtain PACES certification upon expiration of their PEARS certification (no later than April 20, 2022).
National specialty certification appropriate for area(s) of responsibility Preferred
