This Clinical Educator facilitates the development of clinical excellence across all healthcare levels through active participation in departmental and facility-wide education initiatives, including onboarding, initial and annual competency assessments, continuing education, and staff development.

This role also serves as the Risk Manager for all Cypress Cove healthcare areas, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards and continuous improvement in safety and risk prevention practices.

What You Will Be Doing

Collects pertinent information and data related to the educational and developmental needs of clinical staff using a variety of tools and sources.

Validates identified needs with administrators and develops tailored programs using current adult learning concepts and instructional design principles.

Collaborates with department managers to develop and evaluate competencies that support high‑quality resident care.

Participates in the completion of the facility assessment at least annually to determine the knowledge and skills required among staff to meet residents’ needs.

Conducts initial and ongoing assessments of competence using evidence‑based guidelines.

Ensures that all education content, completion records, and training materials are accurate, up‑to‑date, and stored according to Cypress Cove policy.

Develops education content with subject matter experts aligned with identified learning needs.

Coordinates implementation of the education plan in a timely manner, prioritizing immediate, remedial, and ongoing annual training requirements.

Schedules and posts training sessions in advance, ensuring flexibility and minimal disruption to resident care.

Maintains all training records, reports, instructional materials, and speaker qualifications related to educational programs.

Involves learners and managers in the evaluation process to ensure effective knowledge transfer.

Documents evaluation results and distributes reports on learning activities to managers and/or agencies as required.

Assists the Administrator and/or Director of Nursing in developing and maintaining the Nurse Aide Training / Med Tech Curriculum (if applicable), submitting required documentation to state agencies.

Demonstrates understanding of copyright laws, Cypress Cove Corporate Compliance guidelines, and conflict‑of‑interest policies as they pertain to educational processes.

Reports behaviors that are illegal, unethical, or inconsistent with professional standards.

Develops and maintains an ongoing onboarding and orientation program for all new clinical staff.

Conducts and assists with investigations of resident incidents, including evidence collection, timeline creation, and staff interviews; initiates corrective actions when deficiencies are identified.

Meets with residents and/or family members at the direction of leadership to address concerns or review incident outcomes.

Assists with AHCA and other regulatory surveys, complaint investigations, and preparation of plans of correction.

Coordinates and delivers risk management and safety education for staff.

Participates in life safety and emergency drills, fulfilling responsibilities during emergency plan implementation.

Prepares or assists with risk management reports, including submissions to state agencies and internal Quality Committees; provides litigation support as needed.

Participates in departmental meetings, committees, and task forces to review incidents, adverse events, and improvement initiatives.

Engages in ongoing professional development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to maintain expertise in skilled nursing education and risk management.

Assists in developing and adhering to the education budget; communicates resource or equipment needs to the Administrator.

What We Are Looking For

Must possess a genuine interest and compassion for the elderly.

Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in skilled nursing preferred.

Current valid Florida RN license required.

Experience in nursing education, including program coordination, instruction, assessment, and recordkeeping preferred.

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, timekeeping, scheduling systems, and multi‑line phone and fax/copier systems.

Experience with electronic medical record systems such as PointClickCare.

Excellent communication skills.
