General Purpose Of Job
Performs entry‑level duties for Child Support Services while receiving on‑the‑job training. The training will include case management, case initiation, enforcement, financial and legal job functions. The position starts at the CM I level and typically remains for up to two years, with opportunities to advance to CM II or Specialist/Lead.

Essential Job Functions
General Case Management

Provide customer service via phone, email, or in person for case management and compliance, including education on court processes, initial interviews, and application review.

Manage caseload with effective time‑management, including communications, monthly reports, mail, and updates in all required systems.

Schedule genetic testing, conduct DNA swabs, and maintain the chain of evidence.

Prepare multiple reports on time to support effective case management.

Conduct locate functions: determine the non‑custodial parent’s address, employment, and assets; contact employers, relatives, and agencies; analyze data from databases such as COVIS, DMV, DLE, and courts.

Case Initiation

Review new cases for completeness and verify information by contacting clients, courts, employers, other states, and references.

Initiate applications into the Automated Child Support Enforcement System (ACSES); monitor irregularities that may affect TANF or CCAP eligibility; refer for fraud as necessary.

Enforcement

Determine appropriate enforcement actions for child support, medical support, spousal support, and costs using remedies such as income withholding, medical support notices, license suspensions, UIFSA actions, and credit reporting.

File legal paperwork, including appearances, non‑disclosure, probate, property liens, judgments, foreign orders, withdrawals, alternative payment stipulations, and arrears payments with courts as appropriate.

Prepare for and conduct administrative reviews.

Financial

Review the ledger, prepare arrears calculations, and verify information to ensure accuracy, reconciling discrepancies in accordance with state and county policies on collection and interest enforcement.

Customer Service

Provide customer service to parties, attorneys, and employers; explain enforcement remedies, legal responsibilities, and case updates. Request additional information and remind parties of delinquent payments.

Perform other duties at a similar or related level, including coverage for vacancies in front desk and economic security.

Establish and maintain working relationships with community partners, organizations, and resources as a division representative.

Remain calm in high‑stress situations and use critical thinking skills to problem‑solve issues.

Legal

Use state, federal, international codes and case law to perform complex legal tasks such as establishing paternity, modifying orders, changing venues, and handling UIFSA actions.

Determine appropriate judicial and administrative actions, prepare legal forms accurately, and file the Report of Paternity Determination when completed.

Prepare Administrative Process Action (APA) paperwork and conduct APA negotiation conferences to establish or modify orders.

Analyze financial information and allowable credits and deductions to calculate child support per Colorado guidelines.

Attend court hearings, assist County Attorneys with deadlines, prepare exhibits, testify, and make courtesy appearances; maintain the CSSU court docket.

Monitor ongoing court actions and coordinate CSSU involvement as needed.

Attend APA training and obtain the Re‑Certification Exam every three years.

Other duties as assigned.
