About the Agency Peer Assistance Services, Inc. is a community-based, 501(c)(3) non-profit Colorado corporation. Our mission is to lead with prevention and intervention for substance use and mental health concerns. Our values of grit, integrity, and compassion guide all agency programming and staff in service of our mission. PAS implements two statewide programs, Screening Brief Intervention, Referral to Treatment (SBIRT), and the Peer Health Assistance Programs (PHAP).
SBIRT is an evidence-based early intervention practice to identify, reduce, and prevent use of alcohol and other substances. It includes community-based screening for health risk behaviors and a statewide program in Colorado that provides training, technical assistance, and implementation support to health and mental healthcare providers and stakeholders. It also runs a statewide campaign to increase public awareness of risks related to alcohol, marijuana, and other drug use and to reduce stigma of seeking treatment.
Peer Health Assistance Programs contract with the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies to provide statutorily created programs that offer assessment, referral, long-term case management and monitoring for health and mental health professionals with conditions affecting practice. These programs cover various licensed professions, and a fee-for-service option exists for others.
