Overview Associate or Assistant Clinical Professor - Associate Chief Medical Informatics Officer (Office of the Dean Chairs and Institute Directors) at the University of Southern California (USC). Keck Medicine of USC seeks a collaborative physician leader to serve as ACMIO, reporting to the CMIO with a dotted line to a clinical chair within the Keck School of Medicine. This hybrid role dedicates at least four days (32 hours) per week to informatics responsibilities, with one remaining day (8 hours) available for clinical duties or other Keck School of Medicine activities.
Responsibilities Provide informatics leadership and guidance across Keck Medicine of USC facilities.
Support digital transformation efforts by shaping the design, implementation, and optimization of health IT systems in alignment with organizational goals and frontline care delivery.
Foster relationships across departments to promote provider engagement and advance use of clinical decision support, data analytics, and IT solutions that drive high-quality, patient-centered care.
Represent clinical priorities in strategic discussions and facilitate cross-disciplinary collaboration; serve as a conduit between physicians, administrators, IT professionals, and vendors.
Participate in advisory and work groups; lead education and training efforts and champion meaningful use of clinical systems.
Support cross-departmental collaboration and assist IS leaders in engaging hospital, school, and community practice leadership.
Qualifications MD or DO degree and license (or eligible for licensure within 180 days) to practice medicine in California.
Board certification in an ACGME-recognized specialty; board certification in Clinical Informatics or an advanced degree (MBA, MPH, MHA, MMM) preferred.
At least four years of progressive physician leadership experience; recent or current clinical practice preferred (within last 12 months).
Deep understanding of medical informatics, clinical systems implementation, change management, and EMR systems across multi-facility organizations.
Familiarity with health IT trends and tools; ability to design, implement, and optimize health IT systems.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to engage a broad range of stakeholders (physicians, nurses, pharmacists, IT staff, administrators).
Cerner/Oracle Health experience preferred.
Education, Licenses & Certifications MD or DO degree; CA medical license or eligibility within 180 days of hire.
Board certification in an ACGME-recognized specialty.
Board certification in Clinical Informatics or related degree (MBA/MPH/MHA/MMM/Informatics) preferred.
Accountabilities Report to CMIO with a dotted line to a Keck School of Medicine clinical chair.
Work at least 4 days per week in information services activities; up to 1 day per week for clinical duties or other Keck activities.
This is a hybrid position with in-person and possible remote days as assigned.
Provide clinical informatics services across Keck Medicine of USC facilities as assigned.
Uphold high ethical standards; collaborate with providers, clinicians, patients, and business leaders to meet needs.
Promote system thinking and effective listening; facilitate requests and feedback.
Leverage clinical data and presentation skills to promote teamwork and cross-department collaboration.
Lead advisory/work groups; build trust with physicians, nurses, clinicians, and staff.
Lead transformation of clinical care through advanced use of information and technology.
Improve provider engagement with clinical information systems; enable training and peer-to-peer support for appropriate IT use.
Support IT leadership in relationship with hospital, medical school, and community practice leadership.

Compensation The annual base salary range for this position is $300,000–$400,000. Offer factors include scope and responsibilities, experience, education/training, skills, internal equity, and applicable laws and policies.
